Why did you choose to do your internship in Senegal?
I am currently studying in New Hampshire, in a region with a lot of forests, quite far from major cities. At some point, I was ahead of my university curriculum, and the opportunity to do an internship this winter has come up.
I am an open-minded person. I enjoy exposing myself to the discovery of new horizons. I knew that for this term, I wanted to go live in a completely different country from mine..
Twenty-five years ago, my mother spent three months in Senegal, and she loved the country. She has always spoken about it in a positive light. While researching Beautiful Soul, I immediately felt aligned with its values, particularly positivity and collaboration. The fact that Senegal is a French-speaking country also guided my choice, as I wished to continue improving my French skills.
During our team retreat, you shared a project in which you participated that had a profound impact on you...
Yes, I worked for a studio called 50 Eggs Films on the production of the documentary I am Jane Doe. It exposes the extent of the sexual exploitation of teenagers in the United States, with the complicity of certain online classified ads websites. This documentary had a strong impact on American society. It directly contributed to strengthening US legislation to target platforms that facilitate this form of trafficking. .
By contributing to the making of this documentary, I understood how important it was for me to use my skills for collective projects with a significant impact.
